Cadwell Park Group Test

Total Kit Car Magazine have very kindly made Cadwell Park Race Circuit available on Wednesday March 17th free to invited members' cars. To date 27 cars have been presented to the editor and will be taking to the track. The entry list for this event is now full/closed and includes the following list of members (click here). They range from original GT40s to the latest to get through IVA.

The magazine has indicated that the catering facilities at the track will open on a pay as you go basis. This is encouraging to those that wish to attend with their families and friends to take in the atmosphere of this unique and exciting event, and not starve.

It is thought the start time will be 09.00. There will be the usual sign in for drivers followed by a briefing about the track and the MSV house rules.

This will be followed by a photographic session of the GT40s, and any other car which takes the magazine's fancy. This is very important to the magazine and your patience is requested if the start is a bit slow. The editor and I are desperate to have a KVA and a Ford GT present, even just for photographic purposes.

Our chairman, Andrew Kormosa and Total Kit Car invite all members, their families, friends and spectator to come.

I would like to thank all members who have decided to participate with their cars. It is a good way of making sure your car is up to speed and reliable and in good order for our time on track at The Classic this year.

I look forward to meeting as many of you as possible and hope you enjoy the day out.

Silverstone Classic Endurance
  12th September

We only had 2 GT40s, of Dave Hensley and John Oxborough, at Silverstone to watch Claude Nahum, together with co-driver Bernard Thuner, driving No. 48. Chris Ball didn't start due to carburation problems. This picture shows Claude at speed on the track. He finished 2nd in the GT1 class with a 2:19.80 lap time (which was best in class), after leading and suffering a drive through penalty. Claude finished 29th overall and won the 2009 CER GT1 Championship. Well done, Claude! To see more pictures click here.

Events Listing

There is a new style of Events listing for 2009.

This is more structured and allows for detail to be added at a second level. It also enables other people apart from myself, as webmaster, to post events; currently this is restricted to certain committee members e.g. Dave Hensley (Events organiser).

Member Access Password

The site now allows you to change your own password.

More members should use the reserved area particularly to add your items for sale. If you have lost/forgotten your password please e-mail me and it will be advised by return. Chris Bailey (webmaster)

Bookmark icon

It is now common to have a site icon to display as a tiny logo in the your bookmarks list. If you create a new bookmark / favourite to our site you should now find that it shows a smaller version of the above icon.

We have also been extremely lucky to be given the opportunity to have a half hour session on Friday 09/07/2010 BUT we need to pay for this and this will require £200 per vehicle by return. If we fail to get sufficient support for this event then the club will lose the possibility to partake.

Internet Explorer Browser Upgrade

We will be upgrading this web site to a new format and in the process I am aware that 25% of our members are still using Microsoft Internet Explorer browsers version 6 with a few still are on 5 and 5.5. Microsoft has available on-line free upgrades to IE browser version 8.

Those who are in this position will still be able to view the new site, but I would encourage you to upgrade to the newest version to be able take full advantage of today's technology.

2009 Goodwood - In Car Video

The following video footage was taken at the 2009 Goodwood Festival of Speed by Claude Nahum as he raced his GT40 Mark II up the 1.8 km hill climb course reaching speeds in excess of 110 miles an hour (170 kph) and completed the course in 58.4 seconds.

End-of-Season Run

This was a successful get together at the Tangmere Military Aviation Museum on the 13th September. After a drive down from The Fairmile, braving Sunday dawdlers and a cycle race, a great day was had by all. This picture by Paul Brameld says it all. The picture shows a gathering of 8 Mk1s, a McDonnell Douglas Phantom FGR1, a De Havilland Sea Vixen FAW2 and part of an FRS2 Sea Harrier. Did anyone try the Military Aviation Museum's blue flight simulator and fly the spitfire?

Le Mans 2009 Parade

Just to prove we were there! To view our club's participation in the video move the cursor to start at 19:14 minutes up to 21:42 minutes. In order of appearance are: Paul Kinghan, Tony Jasper, Nigel Hulme and Glenn Mason.
