GTD Track Day at Goodwood

August 23rd 2004 All types of GT40s attended the GTD Track day at Goodwood on Monday August 23rd, the event being organised by Frank Catt of Wealden Engineering.

The poor weather restricted attendance compared to previous years, but there were still 30 plus cars on the lunchtime grid.

Le Mans Classic 2004

In total 31 GT40s attended this fantastic weekend, with most also doing the track lap - I am sure a life event for all those lucky enough to be there.

The view above shows many of the cars in attendance.  On the Saturday we had four new friends arrive from Germany, with different interpretations of the 40.

Silverstone Historic Tribute                      Jun 06, 2004

A very hot day at Silverstone rewarded those attending the Historic Tribute event.  A truly massive reserved parking area gave plenty of room.  Chris and Sandra Notley had organised a terrific hospitality suite (including very distracting bar service) right on the pit wall - what we'd all give for that location come the British F1 GP!

As usual at these type of events you can wander around the competitors preparing their cars and discussing set up strategy.  A few examples of the cars present were a James Hunt's McClaren and Jean-Pierre Beltoise BRM.  Lots of older machinery too naturally.  Also what glorious sounds from the Lola T70 of Frank Sytner.  Roll on the Le Mans classic next month.     more ...
