This Ford GT40 recreation is the fourth GT40 built by its owner builder and although the builder does purchase parts supplied by the UK GT40 replica manufacturers, this GT40 was not built from a kit package and was therefore registered by the DVLA in 2024 as a GT40 MK1 and not in the name of a kit car manufacturer. The GT40 passed single vehicle type approval in September 2024 and when its first M. O. T is due when its three years old, it only has to comply with an excessive visable smoke emissions test; it is exempt from ULEZ charge and is only subject to P. L. G road tax.

Whilst being built great attention was given to recreating the look, feel and performance of the original iconic race car and GT40s built by the owner are of course mistaken as genuine by the general public and have in fact been thought to be built by Superformance LLC by other GT40 owners.

This GT40 has a bespoke Semi Monocoque chassis consisting of ERW steel tubing perimeter frames with welded zinc coated pressed and swaged steel panels with ribbed sill tops, semi-circular recessed front bulkhead, etc, to form a very convincing copy of the original 1965 GT40 monocoque chassis but with extended cabin length (if you’re 6ft plus you’ll fit).

The adjustable rose jointed suspension is of CDS tube construction with a layout as per the original GT40, with on car quick camber and toe adjusters and adjustable coilover dampers all round.

The highly accurate body moulded by Tornado sports cars has been further improved with a Lee Dawson full depth nostril panel, removable door tops (door tops stow under the nostril panel), all vents are functional and the rear arches have been widened, front and rear clips have quick release fitment, stripes, roundels and Ford lettering are painted, decals are vinyl stickers.

Interior has black trimmed door cards, centre tunnel top, Motolita 14″ steering wheel and brass eyelet vented seats trimmed in black alcantara. A fully ducted quad fan through flow forced ventilation system exiting through the dash top, dash eyeballs and at your lower back through vents in the rear of the doors has been installed.

All dashboard switch gear is Lucas, all gauges are Smiths, the Hartwell body latches are genuine N. O. S aircraft parts not reproductions, mirrors are chrome plated alloy not plastic.

At the heart of is GT40 is a period 302 cylinder block built up with all new parts and a neutrally balanced 347 stroker Kit by CNC Motorsport making it 5. 7 litre, engine spec includes Eagle forged steel crank, Eagle H Beam rods, Mahle pistons, AFR aluminium cylinder heads, correctly jetted and set up Quad 48 idf carburetors, Comp Cams roller rockers, a Comp Cams XE274HR roller cam, billet steel harmonic balancer, billet steel flywheel and full stainless steel crossover exhaust with repackable silencers.
The engine Drives through a twin friction organic/ sintered paddle clutch and a Getrag 01E 6 speed transaxle.

All this GT40 now needs is a 60s number plate or your private reg plate !
