RCR GT40 Mk1
An exceptionally built replica of the iconic 1966 Ford Mk1 GT40. Now proudly offered for sale in 2026 by Historic Motorworks Ltd to celebrate the 60th anniversary of Ford’s 1, 2, 3 triumph over Ferrari at Le Mans in 1966.
The GT40 is one of the most recognised and celebrated racing machines of all time. While replicas of this endurance racing legend are plentiful, these race cars are often copied but replicas are rarely finished to a refined standard seen in this example. This car sits decisively within that refined category having been built with professional knowledge, experience and without compromise.
Powered by a Ford 302/5 litre V8 engine producing approximately 375 BHP, which carries a remarkable detail. The block in this car was built on 14th June 1969, the very day the GT40 claimed its final Le Mans victory in the hands of Jacky Ickx and Jackie Oliver.
An extremely well-built GT40 replica presented in excellent condition offered with low usage, tested and proven reliability, quality components and careful ownership.
Acquired in 2006 and completed in 2016 in time to attend the 50th Anniversary of the first GT40 win at Le Mans Classic
Ex-Ford Motorsport engineer built and owned car. Who started his career at Ford in 1966, the owner experienced the original cars first hand. He later managed projects on two engines belonging to genuine GT40s while working for UK Ford specialist, Mountune.
